I don't wanna!

so I'm currently going through a phase were I despise cooking.

I can't even stand making sandwiches.

or a smoothie!

that is how pathetic it is.

I will of course- because unfortunately eating is something that we mere mortals must do to survive.

ugh.

I'll snap out of it at some point.

maybe when I get hungry enough.

I just feel bad for Mum!

Vindicated

Though the store is closing and ultimately I am out of a job- it is a relief and kind of a twisted joy to tell customers "No."

To say
"Sorry Ma'am I cannot transfer anything"
"I'm sorry I guess we're out of that."
"Sorry we are not imprinting anymore"
"The store is closing so we don't have much."
or "No"

Basically it's nice not to have to be a kiss up.

especially to those few, who are jerks- the passive-aggressive ones particularly.

It feels good to be able to subtextually say-

"I don't have to please your every whim ha!
I don't have to answer to you!
I don't even care if you talk to my boss about how horrible I am- because in about 2 months (or less) I won't work here anymore! ha!"

It's nice to get the last laugh.

Just can't help it

I can't help being the dork I am.

I love The Andy Griffith Show-
I have all 8 seasons on DVD and sometimes I'll say
"I'm craving Andy, or Mayberry or Barney Fife."
I particularly like the first 5 seasons which are in Black and White.
I Love the Show!
I got interested when John Bytheway mentioned it in his talk on CD

"Turn of the TV and get a Life! "
John Bytheway did the Best impression of Barney I have EVER heard!

Anyway I love the SHow because it' s in a simpler time, Hotel rooms were $7!!!
I love the Shows when Andy is guiding Opie- He really is a great dad!
Or when Andy is cleaning up Barney's Mess and then Credits Barney.
Anyway the Show is fabulous.
You should watch it.

I am glad that it is out in the open. I can be completely honest with people.
And We are happier! (we being the employees of Deseret Book Bonanza) We are in better moods- we're sad about the store closing, but we are happy that we can tell everyone.

Music playlist

so I thought that I would briefly explain our music playlist

It is a combination of songs that both of us listen to either separately or together.

a lot of it is stuff we both listen to.

-though if I had my way Landslide by the Dixie Chicks would not be on here (the most overplayed song on the radio in it's time! *rolls eyes and gags* maybe I would like it more if I hadn't heard it fifteen times in a 2 hour period)
-The Earl Song however is a camp thing for me, my first Girls camp ever we listened to that song every half hour- and sang at the top of our lungs! so I can't help but love it.
-strangely Mum wanted the Green Day song, I don't know where that came from- but apparently she likes it! The same goes for the Goo Goo Dolls song Iris.

(I remember when I was listening to that song when it was popular on the radio- she asked me who sang the song and I replied "The Goo Goo Dolls" Mum- "The Goo Goo Dolls? what kind of name is THAT?" :])

But the stuff we both Like for instance; Michael Buble, Josh Groban, John Mayer, Keane, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband, Kenneth Cope, Barry Manilow

Then those random songs.

Grandma's Featherbed is classic- we love that song!
I keep thinking of songs/ artists I need to add. Like The Beach Boys, Michael McLean and Randy Travis

Anyway the playlist is basically a combination of our lives!
I will probably keep adding to it as I find and think of songs.

Canning Zucchini Relish at midnight

Up late canning zuchinni relish:
Is it worth it? Cost $2.72 per quart.
Flavor? Better than any pickle relish around.
Time? Lost sleep because I had to do it after institute tonight and I am still processing and cooking - tomorrow no good as I have my graphic design class.
Why? - Because I can and it is a tradition, part of my culture a blending of past generations of women who magnified their abilities and at the same time created something worthwhile, artistic (it is beautiful) and easy to share. And art that I share with my daughter and create a memory that will continue on. I hope to teach Bethany that there is nothing she can't do or attempt. Build confidence.
Value - priceless

DB Bonanza Closing

my Deseret Book Store is closing.

The reasons being
1. The Lease is up
2. The Demographics of the Area no longer support a store.
If there suddenly is an explosion of LDS members living on the East side- a Deseret Book will open. So tell your friends!

Honestly I've worked in the store for Two years; it was 2 years on August 15. And Since then the store has been slowly dying. There are days where I go for almost three hours without a customer. And when someone does come in they buy an Ensign.

It really is the Best for the Store. I know it and I feel it. (That doesn't mean I'm not sad!)

The Purpose of Deseret Book is to make a profit and provide a return for the Church.

Our store is no longer doing that.

And hey you think it's bad?

There are three other locations in the Valley- so you might have to drive another 20 minutes to another store. I'm losing my job here.

Not that my boss didn't offer me a job at the Green Valley/Anthem Store. but without transportation it's difficult, and they already have a full staff and Three people with Full-Time. So it would be pretty useless.

On Friday my boss posted a sign saying that we are closing. Lots of people walked right by it- and anyone who did mention it, they were nice about it.

On Sat. the rudest people came in, and when they asked about it and talked about it- it was like they were blaming ME for the store closing.

There was this one customer who came in, in a huff. she saw the sign then she goes up to Sariah and asks for Black Economy Scriptures (those are the most popular when Seminary is starting) Sariah tells her we sold out- she asks that if she brought a set in would we imprint them for her. Sariah tells her no, that John doesn't allow that anymore (it's actually a corporate thing). exasperated the lady exclaims "Well no wonder you guys are closing!" She walks out angrily- still in a huff and yells "Great now my kid won't have his name on his scriptures!”

Customers like that make me want to beat them with a rubber duck.

Though admittedly she was angry when she walked in- it seemed like she had a rough day- and she wanted to take it out on everyone else.

So that night- I was in a funk. I finally started crying about my store. It was just a few tears but it felt good to get them out. With the Sahara and Centennial poaching on stuff in our store and john taking half the store to Green Valley, and the customers having the nerve to blame ME for the store closing- It finally felt real, and it is happening.

I met Alexa in my store- we've had SO many good times- and she left the store in my hands when she went to BYU. It's been a part of my life for 2 years. I've nurtured it and cared for it- and now it's being taken from me.

I'm sorry I failed you Alexa. I did what I could.

Sunday wasn't so bad when I mentioned it to people in my ward- they understand that it's me who suffers. They think of me as a person.

That I am grateful for.

My First

This is my first blog....ever!
Since it has taken me several hours to get this much done I need to quit and go hang towel racks in the 'new' bathroom and see if I can get the ceiling fan to work. Have a great Labor Day everyone. We got steaks and homework waiting for us today. BTW I must say I have a beautiful daughter and some really cute babies! Love to all. j9
